Introduction:

I am a foundation staff member of the school and my key responsibilities are the humanities subjects which include Junior SOSE, Senior Modern History, Geography, Legal Studies, Marine Studies plus Marine and Aquatic Practices. As well as these I am also managing Vocational Education in the Junior School.

A number of significant excursions are also organised by my department and they are: Year 8 Carnarvon Gorge, Maritime Museum Visit , Year 9 Canberra Trip, Year 10 excursion to Agnes Water, GAWB Hatchery Visit; Year 11 Gladstone Court Visits, NW Island (Years 11/12), Vietnam Tour 2007, Japanese Sister School Exchanges and Visits, Year 11 Boating Programs in the Boyne River, Year 11 Snorkelling in Gladstone town pool and other smaller programs. To access further information on these excursions please refer to the links on the school web site.

Voactional Education is introduced to our students from Year 8 and our department delivers a number of programs which are aimed at making students better informed about their strenghts and potentials and to provide them with additional information which will help them to establish their career goals. The creation of their SET Plans (Senior Education and Training Plans) is a critical part of this process and students are given instructions and guidance which we hope will allow them to establish clear pathways throughout their time at Tannum Sands SHS. To access further information on SET Plans please refer to the link on the school web site.
