Studies of Society and the Environment is an important part of the school curriculum because it allows students to expand their knowledge and understanding of their own society, other societies, local and global environments and of relationships between environments and societies through an investigative process. This gives students a framework to interpret, analyse and make judgements about issues relating to Australia, its people, its culture and environmental heritage, its political, economic and legal systems and its place in the world.

This course aims to give students knowledge of the environment (natural, physical and social) and skills for living in a changing world. It is designed to prepare them for further studies in any of the Humanities areas within the senior school level as well as giving them the option of being better prepared for the world of work.
